Laparoscopic Approaches Have Lower Complication Rates in Oncological Right Hemicolectomy Comparison

In a study comparing open surgery, laparoscopy with intracorporeal anastomosis, and laparoscopy with extracorporeal anastomosis for oncological right hemicolectomy, researchers found that laparoscopic approaches had significantly lower complication rates than open surgery. The duration of surgery was longer in the laparoscopic groups, but the length of hospital stay was shorter. Reoperation within 30 days only occurred in the open surgery group. Overall, there were no significant differences in quality of life and recovery outcomes between the three groups.
