Perioperative Chemotherapy Linked to Superior Overall Survival in Patients with Colorectal Liver Metastases

Perioperative chemotherapy is associated with superior overall survival in patients with synchronous colorectal liver metastases. Resection of both the primary and metastatic sites is linked to better overall survival. The study also found that patients who received perioperative chemotherapy had significantly longer overall survival compared to those who had preoperative or postoperative chemotherapy alone. Additionally, patients who underwent resection without chemotherapy had shorter overall survival. The findings support a treatment approach with resection and peri- or preoperative systemic therapy for patients with colorectal liver metastases.
