Defining a Framework and Checklist for Sustainable Global Surgical Partnerships

A study aimed to establish a concrete and realistic framework with evaluation metrics to assess sustainability in global surgical partnerships (GSPs) through a modified Delphi technique. Consensus was achieved among 50 global surgery experts from 34 countries, resulting in the development of a 47-item checklist for the evaluation of the six pillars of sustainability in GSPs. This consensus-driven framework provides the first tool for building sustainable GSPs and promoting noncolonial solutions to improving access to quality surgical care in low-resource settings.
