Researchers conducted a multinational study including 21,706 surgical patients from 57 countries to assess 30-day morbidity and mortality rates after cholecystectomy for benign gallbladder disease. They found that patient age, ASA physical status class, surgical setting, operative approach, and Nassar operative difficulty grade were the top predictors of postoperative complications. They also identified a need for ongoing global collaborative efforts to enhance quality assurance and outcomes in cholecystectomy.
