Early Drain Removal Improves Major Morbidity and Shortens Length of Stay After Pancreaticoduodenectomy

Early drain removal (EDR) after pancreaticoduodenectomy (PD) is superior to late drain removal (LDR) in reducing major morbidity and shortening length of stay. While the difference in postoperative pancreatic fistula rates was not statistically significant, EDR showed lower rates of major morbidity and shorter length of stay. These findings suggest that EDR can lead to improved outcomes in patients undergoing PD.
