Patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) who underwent sleeve gastrectomy (SG) had a 48% higher risk of post-operative complications compared to those without IBD. While there was no significant difference in readmission rates or hospital costs, lengths of stay were similar between the two groups. Despite the increased complication rates, SG remains a safe weight loss procedure for IBD patients with obesity.
