Researchers investigated perioperative factors influencing survival in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) surgery. Analyzing a Danish cohort (2011–2020), they found that perioperative blood transfusions were linked to significantly shorter overall survival (OS) in resected PDAC patients (HR 2.53, p = 0.005), with a marked difference at 72 months post-surgery. No significant associations were observed for surgery duration or anesthesia/analgesia techniques. These findings highlight the adverse impact of blood transfusions on long-term survival in PDAC surgery.
