Robotic distal pancreatectomy has longer operative times but shorter postoperative stays compared to laparoscopic approach

Robotic distal pancreatectomy (rdp) had longer operative times but shorter postoperative stays compared to laparoscopic distal pancreatectomy (ldp). RDP also had fewer pancreatic leaks and required fewer interventions. While RDP was more expensive than LDP, reduced hospital stays and lower reintervention rates partially offset this cost difference. The study found that RDP is a viable alternative with potential benefits in postoperative outcomes despite the slightly higher cost.
