Robotic Hepatic Arterial Infusion Pump Placement Shortens Recovery Time for Unresectable Intrahepatic Cholangiocarcinoma

Researchers compared robotic versus open hepatic arterial infusion pump placement for unresectable intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma. The study found that robotic placement led to a significantly shorter time to functional recovery (2 versus 5 days) and hospital stay (3 versus 5 days) compared to open placement. Both groups had similar rates of postoperative complications. Robotic placement allowed more patients to start chemotherapy promptly post-surgery. Overall, robotic haip placement was deemed safe and effective for patients with unresectable ICCA.
