Robotic colectomy reduces postoperative morbidity and mortality compared to laparoscopic colectomy

Significantly lower rates of postoperative morbidity, mortality, and postoperative ileus were observed in robotic colectomy compared to laparoscopic colectomy. However, robotic approach was associated with longer operative times, though with shorter hospital stays. No significant difference was found in anastomotic leak rates. This study provides evidence supporting the benefits of robotic colectomy in minimizing postoperative complications and improving patient outcomes.
