Superior Weight Loss with Gastric Band to Roux-en-Y Revision

Revisional bariatric surgery from adjustable gastric band to Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RYGB) resulted in significantly greater weight loss at 5 years compared to conversion to sleeve gastrectomy (LSG). RYGB patients had higher percentage total weight loss, excess weight loss, and decreased BMI. There were no significant differences in remission or new comorbidities. Further multicenter studies with larger sample sizes are needed to better understand intermediate-term outcomes of revisional bariatric surgery.
