Comparable Long-Term Survival Rates of Endoscopic Therapy and Surgical Resection for 2-5 cm Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumors

In a comparative study of endoscopic therapy (ET) versus surgical resection for 2-5 cm gastrointestinal stromal tumors, long-term outcomes showed no significant difference in overall or cancer-specific survival rates. After propensity score matching, both groups had comparable survival rates, suggesting that ET may be a viable treatment option for these tumors. Further research is needed to confirm its role in managing 2-5 cm gastrointestinal stromal tumors.
