Enhancing Emergency Response in LMICs through Dispatch Technologies

Addressing communication challenges, this study emphasizes the importance of standardized Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) systems in coordinating emergency response in low and middle-income countries (LMICs). While relying on layperson first responders (LFRs) equipped with mobile phones, EMD implementation becomes crucial to ensure timely prehospital intervention, especially in regions lacking formal Emergency Medical Services (EMS). The paper discusses current dispatch technologies, communication approaches, challenges, and proposes strategies for future development to improve emergency response in LMICs.
