High recurrence rates in ischiorectal fossa tumors despite surgical resection

An analysis of 34 cases of ischiorectal fossa tumors over a 30-year period found a high recurrence rate, with 35% of patients experiencing recurrence even after R0 resection. The median follow-up was 23 months, and the median time to recurrence was 6.5 months. Although there were no surgery-related mortalities, these results indicate the need for a multidisciplinary approach and close post-treatment surveillance.
