Researchers have developed a new groin hernia classification system that integrates clinical elements with anatomical details, providing a comprehensive framework to stratify patients by disease severity. This system consists of nine grades and allows more precise data collection for future audits, monitoring disease progression, and assessing the impact of different management strategies. Initial evaluation involved a task force from the Hong Kong Hernia Society and application to a single hernia surgeon’s registry. Further validation studies are recommended to confirm its utility in clinical practice.
