Hospital Volume Impacts Rectal Cancer Surgery Outcomes

Higher hospital surgical volume correlates with significantly better short- and long-term outcomes after rectal cancer surgery. Patients treated in hospitals with higher surgical volume experienced lower 90-day and 1-year excess postoperative mortality rates and higher 5-year observed survival rates compared to those treated in lower-volume hospitals.
