Comparing Local and Remote Ischemic Preconditioning in Hepatectomy

Local ischemic preconditioning (LIPC) and remote ischemic preconditioning (RIPC) were found to be superior to no-preconditioning in reducing postoperative serum transaminase levels in hepatectomy. There was no significant difference between the two methods in postoperative liver function and surgical outcomes. RIPC showed potential benefits in improving liver function, particularly in patients with cirrhosis or those undergoing major resections. Both LIPC and RIPC are effective strategies for reducing hepatic ischemia-reperfusion injury during hepatectomy.
