Relaparoscopy for Severe Complications in Laparoscopic Colorectal Surgery

Relaparoscopy, guided by a standardized interdisciplinary protocol, demonstrates efficacy in managing major complications after laparoscopic colorectal surgery, leading to reduced treatment failure rates, including lower 90-day mortality and need for further surgery. Relaparoscopy, particularly in cases of anastomotic leak, correlates with shortened hospital stays, decreased postoperative morbidity, and less intensive postoperative care, indicating its potential in preserving the benefits of minimally invasive colorectal surgery.
