Impact of Postoperative Complications on Prognosis in Patients with Hepatocellular Carcinoma

Postoperative complications significantly impact patient outcomes in hepatocellular carcinoma. Patients with moderate/severe complications had worse recurrence-free survival compared to those with no/mild complications. Notably, low and medium alpha-feto protein-tumor burden score patients with complications had higher recurrence risks, whereas complications did not affect high score patients. These findings highlight the importance of reducing postoperative complications to improve prognosis, especially in patients with favorable tumor characteristics.
