Effectiveness of Reinforcement in Laparoscopic Sleeve Gastrectomy

Stapler line reinforcement with continuous imbricating sutures in laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy significantly reduces leakage rates and reoperation rates postoperatively. A retrospective study involving 510 patients revealed a lower leakage incidence (0.7% vs. 4%) in the reinforcement group compared to the non-reinforcement group. While staple line bleeding did not differ, the reinforcement technique showcased improved outcomes with minimal complications.
