Implementation of oesophageal cell collection device (OCCD) for Barrett’s surveillance in Scotland showed promising results, with longer Barrett’s segments correlating with abnormal OCCD tests. High-grade dysplasia or cancer was detected in 8.2% of patients who underwent endoscopy post-OCCD testing, prompting urgent investigation. 92.0% of high-risk patients were correctly identified by OCCD testing, demonstrating its effectiveness as a triage tool for identifying high-risk Barrett’s patients.
