Long-term Outcomes of Laparoscopic Gastric Bypass Surgery

Long-term study on laparoscopic gastric bypass surgery revealed sustained weight loss over 11 years, with recurrent weight gain observed in some patients. The procedure improved hypercholesterolemia and hypertriglyceridemia significantly, leading to remission of diabetes in many cases. However, adverse effects such as gallstones, bowel obstruction, and anemia emerged post-surgery. Results highlight the procedure’s efficacy in weight management but also the importance of ongoing monitoring for potential complications.
