ctDNA as a Prognostic Biomarker in Locally Advanced Rectal Cancer

Circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) shows promise as a prognostic biomarker in locally advanced rectal cancer (LARC), with meta-analysis revealing a significantly increased risk of recurrence in post-neoadjuvant and post-operative periods for ctDNA-positive patients. This systematic review underscores the value of ctDNA in identifying LARC patients at higher risk of disease recurrence, providing insights into disease progression and treatment response. Quality assessment of included studies was generally satisfactory, highlighting ctDNA’s potential as a prognostic tool.
