Improved survival rates with laparoscopic gastrectomy for T4a gastric cancer

A meta-analysis comparing laparoscopic gastrectomy (LG) versus open gastrectomy (OG) for nonmetastatic T4a gastric cancer patients revealed significantly better disease-free survival (DFS) with LG (p = 0.027) and comparable overall survival (OS). LG also showed reduced hazard of cancer-related death and overall mortality compared to OG. Additionally, LG was associated with less blood loss, faster recovery, and more recovered lymph nodes, suggesting improved surgical outcomes.
