Scarcity in surgical care accessibility for gastrointestinal cancer patients was identified through interviews with 27 providers and 36 survivors in Alabama and Mississippi. Barriers included transportation issues, limited specialized care availability, and low health literacy. Facilitators included charitable aid and centralized care. Results point to the need for interventions to enhance surgical care access and usage.
