Long-course chemoradiotherapy with consolidation chemotherapy, short-course radiotherapy with consolidation chemotherapy, and induction chemotherapy with long-course chemoradiotherapy outperform standard treatment for locally advanced rectal cancer, improving pathological complete response rates. These findings support their recognition as first-line treatments, offering good tolerability and optimal postoperative outcomes.
