Positive outcomes of converting Sleeve Gastrectomy to Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass for GERD symptoms

Conversion from Sleeve Gastrectomy to Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass significantly reduced GERD symptoms and PPI use, with 70% of patients experiencing complete symptom resolution and 60% discontinuing PPIs. This approach led to improved postoperative outcomes, decreasing daily symptoms of GERD and the need for PPIs. The study highlights the effectiveness of Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass for managing GERD complications post-Sleeve Gastrectomy, providing a high rate of symptom remission and improving quality of life.
