Study reveals that patients with lower polygenic risk scores for high BMI experience better weight loss outcomes after bariatric surgery. Genetic background, along with individual factors such as biological sex and age, plays a significant role in determining the success of surgical interventions for severe obesity. Results suggest that polygenic risk scores could serve as a valuable tool for predicting post-surgery outcomes and personalizing treatment strategies.
