Robotic natural orifice specimen extraction surgery is superior for rectal cancer

Robotic natural orifice specimen extraction surgery (r-noses) exhibits advantages over robotic transabdominal specimen extraction surgery (r-tses) for early-stage rectal cancer. A multicenter study in China revealed r-noses resulted in longer operation time, but shorter times to first flatus and oral intake, reduced hospital stay, lower wound complications, and improved surgical stress response compared to r-tses. Patients also reported less pain, better body image and functional outcomes with r-noses.
