Preoperative Chemotherapy Enables Resection in Advanced Pancreatic Cancer

Establishing preoperative chemotherapy (PCT) with FOLFIRINOX and gemcitabine/nab-paclitaxel enabled resectability in 61.2% of 139 patients with initially unresectable locally advanced pancreatic cancer. PCT did not increase perioperative mortality or morbidity, with 92.9% achieving R0 resection. Median postoperative survival was 31 months, highlighting the significant potential of PCT in extending recurrence-free and overall survival for resected patients.
