Omentoplasty significantly lowers overall complications, particularly in gastrointestinal and liver surgery. It reduces postoperative infection in thoracic and liver surgery. Patients with a BMI over 25 undergoing esophageal or gastrointestinal surgery benefit the most. No significant differences in pelvi-perineal surgery were found, except for specific cases. Overall, omentoplasty effectively prevents postoperative infection and decreases complications in gastrointestinal and liver surgeries.
