6MWT Predicts Functional Capacity in Cancer Patients Awaiting Surgery

The study explored the association between the 6MWT and other physical function measurements in cancer patients awaiting major surgery. Results showed moderate-to-strong correlations between 6MWT and the 30″ sit-to-stand test, DASI, and handgrip strength. A combination of six variables successfully classified patients into good or poor performance categories in the 6MWT. This suggests that the 6MWT, along with other physical function tests, can accurately predict functional capacity in cancer patients, providing valuable information for prehabilitation programs prior to surgery.
