Oncology Nurse Navigator Cuts Delays and Boosts Patient Satisfaction

A dedicated Oncology Nurse Navigator significantly reduced diagnostic and treatment delays, resulting in quicker access to care for cancer patients. Patients in the study group experienced shorter wait times for diagnostic testing, multi-disciplinary team discussions, oncology visits, and surgery scheduling compared to the control group. The introduction of the Oncology Nurse Navigator led to increased patient satisfaction, with improved follow-up outcomes and decreased post-discharge issues. This study highlights the importance and effectiveness of implementing a specialized nurse navigator role in improving the quality and efficiency of surgical oncology patient care pathways.
