3D Liver Reconstruction Enhances Surgical Planning and Accuracy

A systematic review of 47 studies involving 3D liver reconstruction highlights its benefits in liver surgery. 87.2% of studies used 3D reconstructions for preoperative planning, particularly for complex hepatectomies and liver grafts. The approach improved navigation and accuracy in 55.3% of cases, facilitated graft selection and vascular preservation in living donor liver transplants, and allowed accurate measurement of the future liver remnant in 19.1% of studies. Overall, 3D liver reconstruction proves valuable for enhancing surgical precision and planning in liver surgery.
