Findings indicate that the same-day discharge (SDD) protocol for bariatric surgery shows a favorable safety profile, achieving a 30% success rate for SDD sleeve gastrectomy and a 6% rate for SDD Roux-en-Y gastric bypass. The study recorded 811 sleeve gastrectomies and 325 Roux-en-Y procedures, highlighting a significant increase in ambulatory surgeries over a three-year timeframe. Additionally, the postoperative morbidity remained low, underscoring the effectiveness of this approach in improving access for patients with severe obesity.
