Results indicate that performance in simulated robotic gastrojejunostomy correlates significantly with intraoperative outcomes. The study surveyed 27 general surgery residents, revealing a strong positive relationship between simulated and actual scores (r=0.74, p<0.001) and completion times (r=-0.68, p<0.001). Notably, residents with errors during simulation experienced lower intraoperative scores and longer durations. Cases with clinically relevant delayed gastric emptying demonstrated significantly worse scores than those without, underscoring the importance of simulation-based training.
• Why it matters: Surgical training requires effective methods to enhance resident performance.
