Shared molecular mechanisms identified between COVID-19 and pancreatic cancer

Gene expression analysis revealed 236 common differentially expressed genes (DEGs) between COVID-19 and pancreatic cancer (PC) patients. Functional enrichment pointed to pathways linked to viral replication and tumorigenesis. Ten hub genes, including cyclin-dependent kinase 1 and aurora kinase B, were identified, along with 42 transcription factors and 23 microRNAs that regulate gene expression. This research suggests therapeutic potential for agents like etoposide and methotrexate in treating both conditions, highlighting critical connections between them.
