Infrared fluorescence imaging enhances tumor margin accuracy in surgery

Utilization of near-infrared fluorescence imaging during laparoscopic hepatectomy significantly improved tumor identification and secured clear resection margins in colorectal liver metastasis. Of the 94 tumors, fluorescence imaging detected 56 (59.6%), resulting in a 96.6% clear margin success rate for the 59 patients studied. Pathological assessment found no tumor cells associated with fluorescence, showcasing the method’s effectiveness in minimizing positive resection margins and enhancing surgical outcomes.
