Preoperative pulmonary training reduces complications in gastric cancer surgery

A randomized controlled trial involving 121 participants demonstrated that pulmonary-related training significantly lowered the incidence of postoperative pulmonary complications (PPCs) in gastric cancer patients. The training group had a PPC occurrence of 26.2% compared to 45.0% in the control group (p=0.031). Additionally, the training group experienced shorter hospital stays (8.69 days) and reduced hospitalization costs (€9605.1) versus the control group (9.57 days and €10594.6).
