In a study of 250 patients with pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma undergoing pancreatoduodenectomy, higher modified 5-item frailty index (mFI-5) scores were linked to worse surgical outcomes. An mFI-5 score greater than 2 was independently associated with doubled mortality risk (HR 2.08), while median overall survival was significantly lower for those with scores above 2 (21.3 months) compared to equal to or below 2 (42.1 months). Results emphasize mFI-5’s potential in surgical risk assessment.
