MVI grading severity influences survival outcomes after liver resection

A multicenter study involving 233 early-stage hepatocellular carcinoma patients revealed that microvascular invasion (MVI) grading significantly affects long-term outcomes post-laparoscopic liver resection. Specifically, median overall survival (OS) was 84.9 months for M0, 40.1 months for M1, and 25.2 months for M2. Likewise, recurrence-free survival (RFS) showed similar disparities. M1 and M2 classifications were identified as independent risk factors, underscoring the necessity for enhanced surveillance and therapy for MVI patients, particularly those classified as M2.
