Enhanced Recovery After Surgery Program Lowers Hospital Stays

A multidisciplinary Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) program significantly improved compliance and reduced hospital stays for patients undergoing cytoreductive surgery with hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (CRS/HIPEC). Compliance with ERAS protocols rose from 32.8% to 70.8%. Concurrently, the median length of stay decreased from 14 to 9 days, with no significant difference in major morbidity or 30-day readmission rates between pre-ERAS and post-ERAS groups. These findings suggest a safe and effective implementation of the ERAS protocol.
