Cytoreductive surgery enhances survival in colorectal cancer patients.

A bicentric analysis revealed that patients with colorectal cancer peritoneal metastases (crpm), particularly when isolated or with limited extraperitoneal metastases (epm), experience significantly improved median overall survival (58 months vs. 39 months) following cytoreductive surgery. The study involved 413 patients, demonstrating similar postoperative outcomes between those with and without epm. Notably, specific prognostic groups identified distinct survival rates, emphasizing effective treatment strategies for selected patients with limited peritoneal involvement.
