Repeat liver resection improves prognosis for colorectal liver metastasis.

Patients with recurrent colorectal liver metastases who underwent repeat liver resection experienced significantly better long-term outcomes compared to those who did not, with five-year overall survival rates of 66.3% versus 27.2% respectively. Key prognostic factors include having four or more recurrent tumors, tumors larger than 5 cm, and the presence of extrahepatic disease. Prognosis varied by resectability classification, emphasizing the need for tailored treatment strategies to enhance outcomes in recurrent cases.
