The study demonstrated that triplet induction chemotherapy with folfirinox results in an objective response rate of 80% and a disease control rate of 92% in patients with synchronous metastatic rectal cancer (smrc). Analysis of 146 patients revealed that 69% of those with resectable metastases underwent rectal surgery after treatment. Moreover, survival outcomes were notable, with a median overall survival of 56.3 months for resectable cases, highlighting the efficacy of this approach, especially in selecting suitable patients.
