A meta-analysis revealed that sleeve gastrectomy (SG) significantly reduces the apnea-hypopnea index (AHI), body mass index (BMI), weight, and fat areas while enhancing forced vital capacity (FVC) and sleep metrics in patients with obesity and obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). Key post-surgical benefits included decreased arousal index, oxygen desaturation index (ODI), and improvements in metabolic markers like glycosylated hemoglobin. Overall, SG shows promising outcomes for managing OSA in individuals with obesity.
