AI Navigation Improves Nerve Recognition in Colorectal Surgery

The eureka AI system enhanced nerve recognition rates among trainee surgeons during laparoscopic colorectal surgeries. In 101 scenarios, the rates of nerve recognition failure varied, with right lumbar splanchnic nerves showing a recognition assistance rate of 90.6%. Nerve preservation was improved overall, highlighting the system’s potential to support surgical education and anatomical recognition. These findings indicate that AI can significantly aid clinical training in minimally invasive surgical procedures.
