Measuring lymph node size via preoperative CT significantly predicts pathological lymph node metastasis in colon cancer. Researchers established optimal cutoff values of 6.5 mm for maximum long diameter and 5.5 mm for short diameter, with AUCs of 0.7794 and 0.7755, respectively. Importantly, cutoff values varied by tumor location—higher in the right-sided colon (7.7 mm and 5.9 mm) than in the left (5.8 mm and 5.2 mm)—suggesting tailored diagnostic approaches are necessary.
