A retrospective cohort study revealed that antiviral therapy (AVT) markedly reduces late recurrence rates in patients with hepatitis B virus (HBV)-related hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and compensated cirrhosis post-hepatectomy. The 1-, 3-, 5-, and 10-year recurrence rates for the AVT group were significantly lower than those of the non-AVT group (26%, 49%, 65%, and 76% vs. 29%, 69%, 87%, and 92%, p < 0.001). Patients exhibiting a persistent virological response experienced the most favorable outcomes.
