Robot-assisted pancreatoduodenectomy costs become comparable to traditional methods.

A post-hoc analysis of 588 patients revealed that while robot-assisted pancreatoduodenectomy (rpd) incurs initial higher costs compared to open pancreatoduodenectomy (opd), outcomes improve significantly with experience. Total hospital stay shortened from 12 to 9 days, and costs per rpd procedure decreased from €32,836 to €21,778. By the second half of the study, total costs for rpd were comparable to opd (€21,778 vs. €21,013), suggesting rpd’s evolving cost efficiency.
